Agrilinks Redesign

Our goal was to modernize the website, improve usability, and give content editors greater flexibility to create and update pages through enhanced back-end components. This work led to the redesign of Agrilinks Activities — one of the largest efforts I completed on the project — along with improvements to the Topics and Events pages and the site search experience. I applied UX research methods, usability testing, and visual design best practices to achieve the client’s goals.

Discovery & Research

The first task in redesigning agrilinks.org was to revamp the Agrilinks activities pages. Activities are government funded agriculture projects with USAID and can have micro-sites, similar to a blog or a case study. Most of these pages are user-generated, so I was also involved in designing the back end look and feel of the pages so it would be consistent with the overall vision.

After understanding user and stakeholder needs through key informant interviews, we analyzed and synthesized the findings of our research to determine how we wanted to solution the new features on the site. We used Miro to develop several ‘How Might We’ questions to help facilitate brainstorming and ideation workshops.

Next, I researched other competitors facilitated a competitive analysis workshop with the internal team to gain more insights into how other websites organize their content and information.

I also analyzed the most important components that were crucial to offer to users building their activity pages and what things we need to keep in mind when creating them.
